To be eligible to become a notary public, one must be at least 18 years of age and a legal resident of Florida. If granted a commission, legal residency “must be maintained” throughout the four-year term of the commission.

Florida Law now provides that "A first-time applicant for a notary commission must submit proof that the applicant has, within 1 year prior to the application, completed at least 3 hours of interactive or classroom instruction, including electronic notarization, and covering the duties of the notary public." (Ch.688.50(11)F.S.)

To satisfy this requirement just click on the Notary Class link from Notary Info dropdown at the top, or bottom, of this page and follow the instructions.

After completing the course, you can print the certificate. The certificate contains your name, date, and certificate number. This will serve as your proof of completion of the required course. Remember to include the certificate with your application. Bookmark this page.

Some questions may require longer answers than this form allows. If that is the case then use the "Attachments" from the top or bottom menu to complete your answer. Remember to answer the questions fully to include dates, certificate numbers and copies of documents. This will aid in the expedient processing of your application.

After completing your application, and any additional forms, your Notary Application (PDF) will be emailed as an attachment to your Personal Email address that you provided in "Your Contact Information" section. If you created any attachments, each attachment will be emailed separately as a PDF attachment.

Print the email and all attachments. Then review to insure that all data is correct. Sign where noted.

Fill out the Notary Supplies Form and mail ALL documents, along with your check, to the address below.

Upon issuance of your Notary Public Commission from the State of Florida, our agency will send it along with your bond certificate and your selected supplies to the address you specified in your "Contact Information" section.
